Just a few miles from the Chalet is the open air Liptov museum Buildings that were in the flooding area for the Mara Lake have been reconstructed to make an authentic 18th Century Liptov village with animals to pet and buildings to wander around. €3 entry.
Traditional Music Events
Traditional music events are very common during the summer months. Most weekends through July and August shows are put on in the town square.
EXCURSIONS: - Orava Castle
Perched high on a cliff over looking the Orava river is the famous Orava Castle. Thought to be the most spectacular fortress castle in Slovakia, it was also the setting for the 1922 film Nosferatu. Chalet Slovakia runs a day trip excursion to Orava Castle for €20 per person (minimum 2 persons) or €80 for up to 8. Entry into the castle is €5. The trip also ties in with a visit to the Lucky waterfall where you can swim in the natural pool (weather depending). Open May through to October.

- Spis Castle
The ruins of the gigantic Spis Castle dominates its surrounding countryside. First built in the 13th Century as a boundary fort to stop the Hungarians the castle has expanded over the Centuries until it was damaged by fire in 1780. However it's size still makes it the largest medieval ruins in Central Europe and spectacular viewing. Chalet Slovakia runs a day trip excursion to the Castle for €30 per person (minimum 2 persons) or €120 for up to 8. Entry into the castle is €4. English guide head sets are available.
